Here Aleph Molinari discusses the Digital Divide and its impact on people around the world. Although this hyperessay focuses on internet access in respect to structural racism and its effects in the United States, the problems presented in this talk apply not only to the digital divide in the United States but globally. One must understand that America does not exist as the sole inhabitant of the internet. Around the world people experience a lack of access to the internet, and to computers, something which we find a basic commodity, like food or water. Molinari demonstrates both the necessity of not taking our access for granted, and the possibility of creating a world in which everyone has access. The global community benefits from such a venture in that we can all learn from each other, and that we can draw on more resources to solve the world's most pressing issues.
